According to International Houston: 2004/2005 International Business Database, more than 170 Houston area firms have offices in the countries of Mexico and Canada; more than 1,600 Houston firms trade with the region and countries of North America; at least 42 Mexican and Canadian companies have offices in Houston.
The following is a list of Mexican government offices in the city promoting business and cultural ties: the Consulate General of Mexico, and a special Trade Section within the Consulate General; the Mexican Government Tourist Office promotes tourism and trade between Houston and Mexico; the Mexican States of Oaxaca and Tabasco have representative offices in Houston.
Banco Nacional de Mexico has an agency office in Houston. Five Canadian banks have offices in Houston, including: Bank of Montreal – Houston Agency; The Toronto—Dominion Bank; Scotia Capital; Royal Bank of Canada and the investment and securities division of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
Canada has recently opened a consulate in Houston.
